Age of Conan is ready to launch
Funcom today announced an update on the launch tomorrow, May 20th. The Collector’s Edition of the Age of Conan game is now sold out in all markets. Over 110 000 copies were produced.
Funcom estimates the day-one ship in of the Age of Conan game to be around 700 000. Large portion of them are preorders according to Funcom. The company says it has reason to believe that Age of Conan will have the highest preorder number for any MMO ever. For comparison World of Warcraft sold 240 000 copies on the first day in North America.
Funcom has made an additional order for servers, increasing the size of the server park for the Age of Conan game, to cater for 100 000 more subscribers for the launch period. The server park will now be dimensioned to handle 600 000-700 000 subscribers.
The news shows that the launch is going according to high case for Funcom. High risks related to launch still remain, however, the visibility should increase as the company will likely provide additional guiding after the launch. We are likely to upgrade our estimated maximum number of subscribers to 1,0m. This would imply a target price increase from NOK 26,40 to approx. NOK 50,00 and a recommendation upgrade from Hold to Buy.
